PAINTINGS

Of all the creative things I’ve done, few things are as free as painting. Painting doesn’t have to serve any purpose. It needs to do nothing except please the painter. Oscar Wilde once said “Art is useless..just as it should be.” I’m paraphrasing, but he meant art is governed by nothing. It doesn’t need any further purpose. It is an end unto itself.

For me painting is freedom. That is not to say it comes easy. It’s a lot of hard work, but no one tells me how to paint. I paint what I feel. And knowing what I feel requires a lot of self exploration. Love, politics, passion. It’s all there if you look for it. If you understand my paintings, you’ll understand me.
